In the national capital, Delhi, an event was held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), attended by the organization's chief, Mohan Bhagwat. Bhagwat remarked that discussions about RSS often lack factual information, instead being filled with assumptions. Hence, these lectures aim to provide society with accurate and authentic information about the RSS.
Referring to a similar event in Delhi in 2018, it was observed that many misconceptions were cleared through that dialogue. Although not everyone connected with RSS, the objective was not to enroll people but to disseminate true information.
India's Rise and Global Welfare
The chief of RSS stated that the primary goal of establishing the RSS was to contribute to the world's welfare through India’s rise. He asserted that every nation has a mission for the world, and India's mission is to lead humanity towards harmony and cooperation.
He emphasized that RSS is not just about sustaining itself but enabling India to fulfill its role. This is why discussions of "new horizons" are taking place as RSS marks 100 years.
The RSS leader mentioned various streams of the Indian independence struggle—
Revolutionary Stream: Efforts to attain freedom through armed conflict.
Political Stream: Political awakening through Congress and other parties.
Reform Movement: Attempts to eradicate social evils.
Spiritual Stream: Leaders like Swami Vivekananda and Swami Dayanand guiding society back to core traditions.
He noted these streams were significant but left the work of "complete nation-building" unfinished.
Dr. Hedgewar: A Patriotic Spirit Since Childhood, Mohan Bhagwat Reveals
Sharing anecdotes from Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar’s life, RSS's founder was said to be inspired by a sense of patriotism from his early years. After engaging in revolutionary movements, the Congress movement, social reforms, and national movements, he realized that enduring change is only possible through "qualitative advancement" of society.
This reflection led to the founding of the RSS on Vijayadashami in 1925 with the aim—"Organization of the entire Hindu society."
Mohan Bhagwat clarified that the word "Hindu" does not signify opposition against others but represents a culture of concord and inclusion. The Hindu tradition respects diverse paths and beliefs, and this ethos has always led Indian culture to take everyone along.
