Indian astronaut Subhanshu Shukla addressed students at the convocation of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU). He was honored with an Honorary Doctor of Science (DSc) degree. Shukla shared invaluable lessons from his space mission, urging students to contribute to the creation of a fearless, ambitious, and unstoppable India.

A grand event was held at Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University in Lucknow. Subhanshu Shukla, the distinguished guest of the day, had just returned from a 20-day space mission in June 2025. During the mission, he carried the Indian flag and the dreams of 1.4 billion souls. He conducted scientific experiments developed by Indian researchers, marking India's debut in microgravity research.

'Waiting isn't wasted time, it's preparation,' Subhanshu reflected on the unprecedented 32-day quarantine before his mission. This period allowed him to refine his protocols and prepare for unexpected scenarios. He stated, 'When the rocket launches, all calculations and imaginations are set aside. Anxiety is natural, but training teaches you to focus not on fear, but on the next checklist.'

'India is Fearless and Unstoppable'

Shukla emphasized the sheer importance of teamwork which included thousands of scientists, engineers, and families, stating, 'Success is never a solitary achievement.' Recalling his re-entry into Earth's atmosphere, he spoke of valor and courage. In 1984, India's first astronaut, Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma, proclaimed, 'Best in the world.' Shukla, however, saw something more— a country that is audacious, ambitious, and relentless in its quest.

Students as Nation Builders

Concluding his speech, Subhanshu Shukla called on the students to see themselves not just as spectators but active participants in this national journey. He remarked, 'Your degrees are tools for nation-building, and India awaits your contribution.' Governor Anandiben Patel graced the convocation, where a total of 88 medals, including 37 gold and 26 silver, were awarded to meritorious students.
