In the wake of violence in Murshidabad, West Bengal, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari sought the deployment of central forces through the Calcutta High Court. Despite the state government's objection, the High Court has ordered the deployment in violence-affected areas. Bengal's DGP is expected to reach Murshidabad within two hours.

According to PTI, two individuals lost their lives amid ongoing protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act in Murshidabad today. Police reported that an enraged crowd killed a father and son. The mob repeatedly stabbed them inside their home in the violence-hit Shamsherganj's Jafrabadh area. They were transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where doctors pronounced them dead. The family alleged that some antisocial elements ransacked their home before brutally stabbing the father and son.

Additionally, another individual was shot in Dhulian, a block of Shamsherganj, on Saturday morning. A reminder—on Friday, widespread violence erupted in the Suti and Shamsherganj areas of Murshidabad amidst protests against the Waqf Amendment Act. To control the situation, security has been intensified, and police are continually patrolling the areas. Authorities are conducting a serious investigation, and the search for culprits is ongoing, with tension lingering in the area.

He wrote, "I urge that incidents of such vandalism be investigated by the NIA." He emphasized that Murshidabad, bordering Bangladesh, is a sensitive area warranting a probe by NIA, an expert agency, to unmask the real conspirators behind the violence.
