Dense Fog Causes Crash on Yamuna Expressway: 8 Buses & 3 Cars, 4 Dead, 25 Injured

In Mathura, around 2 AM Tuesday, a collision involving 8 buses and 3 cars occurred in dense fog on Yamuna Expressway, causing a massive fire, killing 4, and injuring about 25. The injured have been hospitalized.

In Mathura, late Tuesday night at around 2 AM, eight buses and three cars traveling from Agra to Noida collided on the Yamuna Expressway due to heavy fog. The impact was so severe that all vehicles caught fire. Unfortunately, 4 passengers lost their lives, and approximately 25 were injured and have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

The Mathura SSP, who arrived at the incident site, reported that the accident occurred near milestone 127, close to the village of Khadehra on the Agra-Noida route. Upon receiving the information, a large number of fire and police personnel reached the site. Rescue operations are ongoing, and ambulances are transporting the injured to hospitals. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem, while arrangements have been made to transport other passengers to their destinations. Thankfully, the condition of the injured is no longer critical.

Eyewitnesses reported that 8 buses and 3 small cars collided, trapping many passengers inside the vehicles, while others managed to escape by jumping out. Sadly, those trapped inside perished in the flames. Local residents immediately informed the police and administration of the incident.

Saurabh from Kanpur, who escaped the bus after the accident, shared that the fog was dense and visibility was poor, leading to the collision of 8 buses and about 3 cars. After the crash, the vehicles caught fire, and more than 5 people were trapped inside and burned, while many were injured and taken to the hospital.

What did the DM say?

District Magistrate Mathura, Chandr Prakash Singh, stated that 5 buses and 2 cars collided, causing a fire that resulted in 4 deaths. The Chief Minister took cognizance of the incident, instructing that the injured receive better medical treatment and announcing a relief amount of 2 lakhs for the deceased.

Fog Expected in UP on December 17

According to the weather department, dense fog is expected to continue on December 17 in parts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, while areas in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh may also see dense fog. Similar conditions might prevail in Himachal Pradesh on December 18.

However, a reduction in fog intensity is expected in Delhi NCR on December 17. A western disturbance is active over northern Pakistan and surrounding areas, potentially causing light snowfall in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh between December 16 and 21. During the next two days, northwestern India may experience a drop in minimum temperatures by approximately two degrees Celsius, leading to an increase in cold weather conditions.
