In the wake of the severe flooding following the torrential rains, Delhi's Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena personally surveyed the affected areas. Places like Taimur Nagar, Barapullah drain, ITO, Tilak Bridge, Kushak drain, Golf Links, and Bharti Nagar, which were severely impacted, were part of his inspection tour. A substantial amount of silt and debris blocked the drainage system, leading to floods in regions such as Okhla, Taimur Nagar, Shaheen Bagh, New Friends Colony, and Maharani Bagh.
The Lieutenant Governor was accompanied by the Chief Secretary-cum-Chairman of the NDMC, the MCD Commissioner, and the Chief Secretary of PWD among other senior officials. He directed all concerned agencies to expedite the cleaning of drains to prevent potential future flooding. Emphasis was also placed on swiftly removing encroachments along the drains.
