The Delhi High Court has directed Delhi University to decide within three months on the demand for women's reservation in the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections. The petitioner has demanded a 50% reservation for women. During the hearing, petitioner Shabana Hussain stated that student union elections have been significantly influenced by money and muscle power.
As a result, women's participation remains minimal. Hussain mentioned that she approached the High Court to ensure women's representation in the student union elections scheduled for September 27 through reservation. The nomination process for the DUSU elections is set to begin on September 17.
The election fever has gripped Delhi University as the DUSU elections are scheduled for September 27, 2024. The university has announced the election schedule for the academic year 2024-25. Students can file their nominations for the DUSU elections by September 17. The election results will be declared on Saturday, September 28, revealing the new President, Vice-President, General Secretary, and Joint Secretary.

For the central panel elections of DUSU, nomination forms have to be submitted at the office of the Chief Election Officer, Satyapal Singh, located on the North Campus. Last Date to Withdraw Nomination
According to the DUSU election schedule issued by DU, candidates wishing to withdraw their nominations may do so by September 18, 12 PM. The final list of candidates contesting the elections will be published by 5 PM on the same day.
