The death sentence of Indian nurse Nimisha Priya in Yemen has been entirely overturned. This breakthrough was announced by the office of India's Grand Mufti, K.T. Abubakar Musliyar. Although Yemen’s government has yet to provide official written confirmation, the statement clarifies that her previously postponed execution is now permanently canceled.
According to ANI news agency, the decision emerged after a high-level meeting in Sana’a, the Yemeni capital, as reported by the Grand Mufti’s office.

Nimisha Priya’s case has drawn international attention since 2018. She was accused of murdering her business partner and dismembering the body. Convicted of murder in March 2018, she was sentenced to death by a Yemeni court in 2020.
The case took a dramatic turn when Yemeni President Rashad Al-Alimi signed her execution order in December 2024, followed by approval from Houthi rebel leader Mahdi Al-Mashat in January 2025, escalating the predicament.
In past months, diplomatic and religious interventions intensified to save Nimisha, with significant contributions from Indian religious leaders and social activists. This report is based on preliminary information, with more updates to follow.
