In the controversial liquor excise policy case of the former Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi, the Rouse Avenue Court has issued notices to the ED and CBI on the petition seeking an NOC for the passport renewal of former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. The next hearing date is set for June 4.
Kejriwal's lawyer mentioned that his passport had expired back in 2018. On the other hand, related to the same liquor policy scam case, the Delhi High Court has allowed businessman Amit Arora to travel abroad.
The Delhi High Court has granted Amit Arora permission to travel to Dubai for medical treatment from June 6 to June 16 due to a medical emergency. The court had previously granted regular bail to Amit Arora.
According to the ED and CBI, there were irregularities in revising the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22, and unfair advantages were given to license holders.
The erstwhile Delhi government implemented the excise policy on November 17, 2021, but it was scrapped by the end of September 2022 amidst corruption allegations.
Director of Gurgaon-based Buddy Retail Private Limited, Amit Arora, was arrested by the ED under PMLA on November 29, 2022.
The CBI alleged that Amit Arora was a close aide of AAP leader Manish Sisodia and actively participated in managing and misappropriating illegal funds collected from liquor license holders.
