For quite some time, star batsman Prithvi Shaw has been missing from Team India. Shaw last played for India on July 25, 2021. Despite his talent, the 25-year-old has struggled to find form in domestic cricket, and questions about his fitness continue to arise. Now, Prithvi Shaw is set to part ways with Mumbai's domestic cricket team. To facilitate this move, he has requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) ahead of the upcoming domestic season. Shaw has received an offer to play cricket for a different state association.
Prithvi Writes to MCA
In his letter to the MCA, Prithvi Shaw expressed, 'At this juncture in my career, another state association has presented me with a promising opportunity to play professional cricket. I am confident this will help me evolve and progress as a cricketer. In this regard, I humbly request you to issue me the No Objection Certificate (NOC) so that I can officially represent the new state association in the upcoming domestic season.'
Last year, due to fitness issues, Prithvi Shaw was excluded from Mumbai's Ranji Trophy squad. The team management informed the Mumbai Cricket Association that Shaw's weight was excessive, and his body fat percentage was at 35%. He was advised to undergo rigorous training to regain fitness. Unfortunately, his fitness didn't improve satisfactorily, leading the Mumbai team selectors to decide his exclusion from the 2024 Vijay Hazare Trophy as well.
