Following the unrest in Murshidabad, West Bengal, security forces have been deployed in the region. Currently, 9 BSF and 8 CRPF companies are stationed in the violence-hit areas. BSF ADG Ravi Gandhi is on a two-day visit to Malda and Murshidabad, arriving today to inspect the affected regions, including Cotton, Shamsherganj, and Jangipur. On Sunday, tensions were anticipated to escalate between BSF and the protestors, but due to the prompt actions of the security forces, the situation was contained.

Violence in Murshidabad Claims 3 Lives
In recent days, Murshidabad witnessed significant unrest during a demonstration against the Waqf law, resulting in reports of stone-pelting and arson in various localities. This violence has claimed the lives of 3 individuals and left several policemen injured. In response, the police have taken action against the accused, arresting over 150 individuals. To restore peace, BSF personnel have been deployed alongside the police in the area.

The upheaval began on Friday after the prayers, as thousands opposed the Waqf law, taking to the streets and blocking NH-34. The clash ignited as police attempted to clear the blockade on the national highway.
