A simple homemaker transforms into a millionaire businesswoman, now recognized far and wide. Her world was confined to the walls of her home, detached from worldly affairs. Following her husband's death, this was her entire world. But things have changed.
This is the story of Kalyani Bhavna Shivhare from Chiravad village in Devas district, Madhya Pradesh. Determined to escape economic hardship, Bhavna joined the Krishna Self-Help Group under the Village Livelihood Mission, resolute to change her luck. Her fortune began to shift. She formed a group with ten women from her family.
Bhavna was appointed secretary of the group. Showing collective discipline, Bhavna received a loan from the Village Livelihood Mission. First, she received ₹50,000, supplementing it with her savings to invest in an existing restaurant. She received help from her brother to run the restaurant. Another loan of ₹20,000 allowed her to improve the restaurant further. A third loan of ₹75,000 enabled her to start a grocery store. The grocery store bolstered Bhavna's financial standing.
Bhavna shares how she learned the intricacies of the Bank Sakhi Group through the Village Livelihood Mission, receiving several training sessions. She also enjoys the benefits of all government schemes. She got her Ayushman Card made, opened a PM Jan Dhan account, and insured herself under the Prime Minister Jeevan Jyoti scheme.
Connecting with the self-help group and starting the grocery store with the Village Livelihood Mission has ensured a monthly income of around ₹10,000 for Bhavna. Her brother-run restaurant yields ₹20,000 a month.
Bhavna now plans to venture into goat farming to strengthen her economic stability further. Earning over ₹1 lakh annually, Bhavna is thrilled and acknowledges Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, expressing gratitude for enabling various self-employment schemes that have empowered numerous women like her.
