While tensions with the United States over tariffs are increasing, relations with China seem to be warming. China's Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, is in Delhi on a two-day visit from August 18-19, invited by National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval.

Today (Tuesday), China's Foreign Minister and NSA Ajit Doval held the 24th round of the 'Special Representative' talks focusing on the India-China border dispute (LAC). Discussions were centered on reducing border tensions, enhancing peace, and resolving the conflict.

What Did China's Foreign Minister Say?

China's Wang Yi met with Ajit Doval and expressed the need for both countries to steer their relations towards a healthy and stable path. He stressed the importance of building trust and supporting each other to foster the development of bilateral ties.

Wang Yi emphasized the creation of a conducive environment for relations, strengthening agreements in areas like border control and delimitation talks. It was also agreed that the next border dialogue will be held in China in 2026. Both nations concurred that cooperation and dialogue are the best ways to forge a new direction for their relationship.

Meeting with Jaishankar

Earlier on Monday, Wang Yi met with India's Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. During this, China's Foreign Minister critiqued the U.S., stating that unilateral threats and decisions do not hold sway in a changing world. He stated that China and India should view each other as partners, not adversaries.
