In the heart of Madhya Pradesh's bustling capital, Bhopal, the newly constructed Ashbagh Railway Overpass was designed to alleviate traffic woes, but its sharp 90-degree angle has left many astounded. This bridge, crafted at an expense of INR 18 crore after nearly eight years of development, presents a formidable twist that raises eyebrows.

This 18-crore marvel, meant to streamline city traffic, requires drivers to negotiate a near-right angle, prompting a flurry of questions about the design on social media.

A post on social media platform X by user Manish Chaudhary highlights this contraption as an 'engineering wonder', a product of prolonged bureaucratic delays, questioning the integrity of those at the helm of such projects. He laments the tokenistic commitments overwhelmed by corrupt practices and how ill-conceived plans can lead to infrastructure risks rather than solutions.

Chaudhary adds, "These edifices do little for the populace but enrich the pockets of a select few." He decries the practice of approval on paper only for projects to manifest poorly in reality, with safety taking a backseat to monetary gain.

In a similar vein, another user Mukesh cynically commented on the ominous '90-degree Angle of Death’ in Bhopal, noting how ill-fated a project costing INR 18 crore could become a potential peril, with its daunting 648-meter stretch.

Constructed amidst dense population zones and chaotic traffic spirals, the bridge's unveiling is overshadowed by skepticism. Confronted by queries on this matter, PWD Minister Rakesh Singh assured that judicious technical evaluations precede such constructions. Any allegations will be thoroughly investigated to resolve concerns accurately.

The city's inhabitants eagerly anticipated the completion of Ashbagh Overpass, hoping it would ease the traffic situation.

Before even inaugurating, the overpass faces widespread criticism, mostly due to its harrowing turn.

Initial plans began in 2015, with intentions to improve urban transport connectivity.
