The 2016 biographical drama 'Sarbjit' was widely appreciated. Featuring Aishwarya Rai, Randeep Hooda, and Richa Chadha in lead roles, the bulk of the awards seemed to go Aishwarya's way. Did Randeep bear any grudge, or feel betrayed by this? He recently discussed these feelings in an interview.
In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Randeep remarked that complaining now might be dismissed as 'sour grapes.' While conceding he did feel hurt, he maintains a distance from such sentiments. He went on to add that one should not place too much importance on awards, but it would be wrong to sit and cry about it now.
'I'm Happy for Aishwarya'
Randeep said - Firstly, as an actor, if you're measuring your worth by the number of awards, that's not the right approach. Recognition from your audience can be thrilling, but all I can say is I'm happy for Aishwarya that she received the awards, even though I didn't win. Complaining now, that I deserved more, is not fair. However, if people say so, that in itself is a victory for me.
Randeep Felt Bad
Randeep continued - I never got involved in such conversations, because it would seem like a case of 'sour grapes.' Did I feel aggrieved? Absolutely, I did. But it's not the end of my world. You move on to the next thing. As an actor and film producer, if I gave others that much control over my self-image, I would have done so long ago.
Randeep also mentioned that he had limited interaction with Aishwarya on set, but noticed how committed she was to her work.
Randeep's recent movie 'Swatantra Veer Savarkar' has had a mixed response from audiences and critics alike. The film also stars Ankita Lokhande. Just like for 'Sarbjit', Randeep underwent a significant transformation for 'Veer Savarkar,' and his performance has been widely lauded.
