The Trinamool Congress of West Bengal has declared their candidates for all 42 Lok Sabha seats, introducing fresh faces like cricketer Yusuf Pathan alongside trimming tickets for some incumbents.
The party's bold move has fractured the political unity in Bengal by pitting Pathan against the current Congress MP from Baharampur, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.

On Yusuf Pathan's nomination, Chowdhury remarked, "It would have been better to honor Yusuf Pathan appropriately. It would have been possible to give recognition by bestowing a position if he was to be honored, like a nomination as an MP from Bengal to the Rajya Sabha by TMC."
Chowdhury criticized TMC's decision, suggesting that if Mamata Banerjee had a positive intention towards Pathan, she could have at least proposed a seat collaboration from Gujarat, asserting, "Transfer him for polarizing common people, aiding BJP and defeating the Congress party."

Chowdhury claimed, "Mamata Banerjee has proven that no political party in India should trust a leader like her... She fears being in the bad books of PM Modi, hence separating herself from the India block to appease the PMO, indicating that she is not standing against BJP."
