Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi's statement on reservations, given at a university in the USA, has sparked political debate. Central minister and LJP (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan stated that not only abolishing reservations, but merely thinking about it is a crime. Before this, BSP supremo Mayawati had also accused Rahul Gandhi of staging a drama and warned everyone to be cautious.
Chirag Paswan said that Rahul Gandhi's statement has revealed the true mindset of the Congress party. He claimed that the Congress party has always wanted to end the reservation system introduced by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He emphasized that reservations are crucial for maintaining constitutional order and that tampering with these provisions should not even be considered.
The central minister further noted that people with a Congress mindset have long used such statements to mislead the public. He declared that the issue of reservations is merely an electoral catchphrase for the Congress, urging caution from everyone. Despite holding power at the center for long periods, the Congress neither conducted a caste census nor implemented OBC reservations. This clearly indicates the Congress's longstanding anti-reservation stance.
He added that these individuals blame others for the conspiracy to end reservations, while the truth is this mentality belongs to them. Contrasting the approaches of both alliances, he highlighted that while the opposition leader thinks of ending reservations, the widely respected leader of the NDA, esteemed Prime Minister Modi, is determined to uphold all provisions of reservation.
BSP supremo Mayawati previously stated that there is a need to be cautious about Rahul Gandhi's dramatics. The former CM pointed out that even while the Congress held central power for a long time, they neither implemented OBC reservations nor conducted a caste census. Now, with this as a cover, they dream of returning to power. She advised caution against their antics, stating that they will never be able to conduct a caste census.
In response to student questions at Georgetown University in the USA, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi made a significant statement about reservations. When asked how long reservations based on caste would continue in India, he replied that the Congress would consider ending reservations only when there is fairness in the country. He asserted that the conditions for such fairness are currently not present in India.
Gandhi explained that financial data reveal that only 10 paise from 100 rupees reach tribal people, 5 rupees reach Dalits, and similarly, a minimal amount goes to OBCs. He pointed out that these groups are not getting their fair share. The real problem, Gandhi argued, is that 90% of India's population does not get equal opportunities. He urged people to look at the list of every business leader in the country and challenged anyone to name an Adjective: a tribal, Dalit, or OBC leader. Gandhi noted that among the top 200 business leaders, possibly only one is OBC.
