ASMI Gun: Northern Command of the Indian Army Places Order for 4.26 Crore INR

The Northern Command of the Indian Army has placed an order worth 4.26 crore INR for the indigenous machine pistol and submachine carbine, ASMI Gun. This order has been assigned to Lokesh Machines Limited. In close combat, where small, lethal, and lightweight weapons are utilized, the ASMI proves significantly advantageous.

Developed collaboratively by the Armament Research & Development Establishment under DRDO and the Army Infantry School, Mhow, the machine pistol ASMI, meaning 'pride, self-respect, and hard work' in Sanskrit, was crafted in a span of four months.

Boasting two variants, the 9 mm machine pistol weighs merely 1.80 KG. It supports various attachments like telescopes, binoculars, or beams. While the pistol measures 14 inches in length, it extends to 24 inches with the butt extended.

The pistol is crafted from aluminum and carbon fiber, with an effective range of up to 100 meters. Thanks to steel lining in the magazine, bullet jams are avoided.

The ASMI machine pistol's magazine can hold up to 33 rounds when fully loaded, capable of discharging 600 rounds per minute. With loading switches on both sides, it facilitates ambidextrous use for ease and efficiency.
