The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, on Wednesday, took a jab at Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray's reunion for the upcoming Mumbai municipal elections.

He remarked that both Shiv Sena and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena have lost their unique identities, and their reunion is being portrayed as if Russia and Ukraine have reconciled.

On Wednesday, Shiv Sena (UBT) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) announced their alliance ahead of the Mumbai municipal elections. During a joint press conference in Mumbai, Uddhav Thackeray, alongside his cousin Raj Thackeray, affirmed their renewed partnership.

Responding to this, Devendra Fadnavis commented that a perception is being created as if Russia and Ukraine have united, or as if Zelensky and Putin are in talks. This coalition brings together two parties that have lost their distinctiveness, lacking the trust of the people. Their vote bank has been depleted due to the politics of appeasement.

Fadnavis emphasized that Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS have merely joined forces to preserve their political identities, claiming that the Mahayuti will emerge victorious in the Mumbai civic elections. He stated that their collaboration would have no significant impact, as both parties have only allied to save face. The people of Mumbai have witnessed the developmental work we have undertaken, thus continuing their support for us. Mahayuti will prevail in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari reacted to the Thackeray brothers' reunion, stating that the alliance was formed out of fear of losing the municipal elections. Bhandari added that two dynastic leaders have come together, forming an alliance to avoid defeat. The citizens of Mumbai wish to choose development under the leadership of the NDA-BJP.
