Alert from UP to Himachal...

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for dense to very dense fog across major parts of northern India amid cold conditions. It’s anticipated that Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, and Western Uttar Pradesh will continue to experience dense fog during night and early morning hours up to December 31, while Eastern Uttar Pradesh might face similar conditions until January 1. Due to low visibility and reduced wind speeds, pollutants could become trapped near the ground.

In Uttar Pradesh, the long-lasting cold wave and fog have prompted officials to close schools until January 1, 2026. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced this decision citing health risks to children in the prevailing weather conditions.

Delhi Airport Advisory...

In response to the dense fog, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport has issued a travel advisory, as the city's air quality has worsened into the ‘severe’ category once more. According to the Central Pollution Control Board’s Sameer app data, Delhi's AQI was recorded at 404 around 11:20 PM, marking it as 'severe'.

The advisory issued by Delhi Airport warns travelers, "Flight operations are currently under CAT III conditions due to dense fog, which could result in delays and cancellations. Our ground teams are actively assisting passengers to ensure smoother travel. We apologize for any inconvenience caused."

IndiGo's travel advisory notes, "Chilly winds and dense fog have enveloped Delhi and Hindon this morning. Due to fluctuating visibility, there have been changes to the flight schedule, and as circumstances evolve, operations may proceed slower than usual."

SpiceJet's advisory highlights that all departures and arrivals, along with their associated flights in Delhi, may be affected due to poor visibility.
