Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, was rocked by turmoil when one individual brutally attacked three children with a sharp weapon. Two children perished in this ghastly act, and the third was severely injured. The perpetrator, Sajid, was shot down by police during an
encounter
. It has emerged that Sajid had borrowed money from the children's mother just before carrying out the attack.
The incident took place in Baba Colony within the Civil Lines police jurisdiction. Mere steps away from the Mandi police checkpoint, the crime was committed on Tuesday evening. Sajid, a man running a shop opposite to Vinod Singh's household, entered their home and demanded five thousand rupees from Vinod's wife.
What did the children's mother reveal?
Sangeeta, the mother, shared, "I run a cosmetic shop in my house and above that, a beauty parlor. Sajid came in the evening and initially requested a clutch which I gave him. Later, he asked for financial help of 5,000 rupees. After speaking with my husband, I handed over the money to him. Subsequently, he complained of feeling unwell and went upstairs where our children Ayush and Yuvraj were playing on the terrace."
The children were attacked with an axe: Grandmother
The grandmother recounted that late in the evening, a man known for running a barbershop invaded the home and attacked the three children - Ayush, Yuvraj, and Ahaan alias Honey - with an axe, resulting in the deaths of Ayush, 12, and Ahaan, 6. Yuvraj was hospitalized, treated, and later discharged.
Distraught over the incident, the family and villagers erupted in chaos, setting fire to Sajid's shop and damaging a bike. Police, including the SSP, were quick to the scene to control the mob.
Bareilly Zone's IG shares insights
IG Rakesh Kumar Singh from the Bareilly Zone reported that Sajid alias Javed, son of Babu, fled the crime scene covered in blood. After our team located and chased him, he was spotted in the jungles near Shekhpur. When SOG and station police approached, he fired at them, and in return fire, sustained injuries leading to his death.
The sole perpetrator of this atrocity: IG
According to the IG, Sajid was the solitary culprit. A man bathed in blood was seen fleeing, so they pursued him. The motives for the crime are being investigated, whether it's a monetary dispute or other enmity. The family is mourning, so we're not interrogating them extensively at this time.
Station Officer also wounded during the encounter
The officer added that Sajid went home, met the children's grandmother first, and then went upstairs to attack the three children which led to two fatalities, and one child was grievously injured. He's out of danger now. During the encounter, Gaurav Bishnoi, the Station In-Charge of Civil Lines, was also shot in the leg and is being treated at the district hospital.
