Potentially 2-3 terrorists involved in the attack
The ongoing search operation has yet to yield results. Intelligence has pinpointed the precise spot within the forest where the attack was carried out. Sources suggest that 2 to 3 terrorists could be involved in the assault, potentially with the help of local supporters who might have guided their path. The terrorists aimed to inflict maximum casualties, armed with state-of-the-art weaponry.
Para commandos spearhead the search operation
Army's elite para commandos (SPL Forces) have been airlifted and deployed in the remote Machindi-Malhar region of Kathua to ensure a timely and effective counter-operation against the fleeing terrorists, seeking to tighten the noose around them as they attempt to escape the region.
One soldier martyred in previous Poonch attack
In the past five days, this is the second instance of an ambush against the military convoy. Earlier, militants had attacked an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in Poonch district on May 4th, resulting in one airman's martyrdom and four personnel wounded. The attack occurred as the air force's convoy was heading towards Sanai Top in the Surankote region.
