The grand Opening Ceremony of the Olympics took place in Paris, the capital of France. Over 10,000 athletes embarked on approximately 100 magnificent boats and sailed through the Seine River. These athletes passed by some of Paris' most iconic landmarks, including Notre Dame, Pont des Arts, and Pont Neuf. The floating parade started near the Austerlitz Bridge beside Jardin des Plantes and concluded at Trocadero.

Badminton star PV Sindhu and table tennis veteran Achanta Sharath Kamal, who is participating in his fifth Olympics, led the Indian contingent during the opening ceremony. They are the first athletes from their respective sports to be flag bearers for India at the Olympic Opening Ceremony.

India sent a team of 117 athletes to the Paris Olympics. Among these 117 members, the highest numbers are in athletics (29), shooting (21), and hockey (19). Out of the 69 athletes, 40 are participating in the Olympics for the first time.
