In Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, SSP Ashish Tiwari has taken firm action against negligent police officers. He suspended 16 officers who were absent during the highly significant Navratri and Shakumbhari Devi fairs. This decisive move has caused quite a stir within the department.
The suspension list issued by the SSP includes Inspector Sanjay Kumar, Sub-Inspector Ramendra Singh and female Sub-Inspector Manbiri Singh. Additionally, Chief Constables Pradeep Kumar, Arun Solanki, and Bhopal Singh are also on the list.
The suspended personnel further include Constables Ravindra Kumar, Robin Kumar, Munish Kumar, and Chief Female Constable Nirmala. Recruit Constables Deepak Kumar, Dhananjay Sarkar, Ashok Kumar, Yogendra Singh, Hariom Singh, and Bhopal Singh have been suspended due to indiscipline.
Reasons for Suspension
Every year, the Navratri and Shakumbhari fairs attract millions of devotees. During these events, the police are entrusted with crucial security responsibilities. An investigation revealed that several officers were absent from duty without notification, amounting to significant negligence, prompting this action.
SSP Ashish Tiwari asserted clearly that being absent during festivals or crowd management duties constitutes an offense, and no compromises on public safety will be tolerated.
According to police department sources, such negligence will face strict action in the future as well. This stern measure has sent ripples through the department and conveyed a strong message that indiscipline during duty is unacceptable.
