The Rajya Sabha witnessed significant commotion on Tuesday. Amid the chaos, heated exchanges unfolded not only between the chair and opposition leaders but also amongst the government and opposition members. Mallikarjun Kharge, opposition leader, quoted former Leader of the Opposition Arun Jaitley, asserting that disruption is a democratic right of the opposition.
Meanwhile, Leader of the House JP Nadda advised the opposition on taking tuition in governance. Due to the uproar, the proceedings of the upper house were adjourned till 2 PM. JP Nadda remarked that today marks a historic day, as the observations from the chair by Harivansh will forever be noted and serve as reference points for future sessions of the Rajya Sabha.
Addressing Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Nadda praised the clarity brought by his ruling, likening it to separating milk from water. However, when Nadda was speaking, the opposition members intensified their uproar. Angrily, Nadda counseled that when the truth is hard to endure, such disruptions occur.

He also mentioned the opposition's need for lessons, drawing from his 40-plus years of experience. Nadda emphasized the need for understanding the role of opposition, admitting some might be new with just a decade of experience but have 30-40 more years to learn. Echoing the words of Arun Jaitley, who had spoken of disruption as a democratic right, Nadda concluded, though disruption might have different forms, wielding lathis in the house is not one of them.
