The political storm over the voter list in West Bengal has intensified. The TMC has leveled serious accusations against the Election Commission (ECI) and BJP, asserting that manipulations have been made in the 2002 voter list, and names of millions of genuine voters are being quietly erased. The party claims that the hard copy and the online version of the voter list do not match.
'Names Being Deleted Before SIR Process'
TMC leader Kunal Ghosh stated, 'The two lists do not match. Many names have already been removed, and the edited list is now being uploaded on the website. The BJP claims that over 10 million names will be removed... Now it is clear how they are making such claims, as the 'Silent Invisible Rigging' has already begun.' The TMC claims that names are being deleted even before the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
What Accusations Did TMC Make?
The TMC, providing several examples, has accused that large-scale erasures of names have occurred from the 2002 voter list. According to the party, in booth number 2 of the Natabari assembly constituency in Coochbehar, 717 voters were registered in 2002, but currently, only 140 names appear in the online list. Similarly, in Pachagarh village's booth number 160 of Mathabhanga assembly constituency, there were 846 voters in 2002, but now the list stops at 416 at booth number 2/244, with the rest of the names completely missing.
'Even BLO Family Members' Names Missing'
In the Ashoknagar assembly constituency of North 24 Parganas district, in booth number 159 of the Guma-1 Gram Panchayat of Habra-2 block, there appears to be no record in the 2002 voter list. Meanwhile, booth number 61's list lacks names from serial numbers 343 to 414. The TMC has also claimed that in the Majhardabari area of Alipurduar, even the names of the BLO's father, mother, and brother have been removed from the voter list.
