West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been injured in a mishap once again. While climbing aboard a helicopter in Durgapur, she lost her balance and fell inside the aircraft. She was on her way from Durgapur to Asansol to address a rally in support of TMC candidate Shatrughan Sinha. Her security personnel immediately came to her assistance. According to sources, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee proceeded to Asansol after a short delay. TMC sources have informed that her injuries are not severe and she will participate in the election rally in Asansol. A few days prior, the TMC supremo had been injured at her residence. She fell while walking at her home, resulting in a head injury. She was taken to SSKM Hospital for treatment, where she received stitches.
The elections for West Bengal's 42 parliamentary seats will be conducted in seven phases. Voting has already concluded for the first two phases on 19 April in Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri and on 26 April in Darjeeling, Raiganj, Balurghat. The third phase on 7 May will see voting in Malda North, Malda South, Murshidabad, Jangipur. The fourth phase on 13 May includes voting in Baharampur, Krishnanagar, Ranaghat, Bardhaman Purba, Bardhaman - Durgapur, Asansol, Bolpur, Birbhum. The fifth phase on 20 May takes place in Bangaon, Barrackpore, Howrah, Uluberia, Serampore, Hooghly, Arambagh, and the sixth phase on 25 May in Tamluk, Kanthi, Ghatal, Jhargram, Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura, Bishnupur, with the seventh and final phase on 1 June in Dum Dum, Barasat, Basirhat, Jaynagar, Mathurapur, Diamond Harbor, Jadavpur, Kolkata South, and Kolkata North.
