Vinod Tawde, the national general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party, has issued a legal notice to Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Supriya Shrinet concerning the cash-for-vote scandal. Tawde's legal team referenced specific posts by Rahul Gandhi, Supriya Shrinet, and Mallikarjun Kharge, wherein they accused the BJP leader of distributing money.
'Apologize within 24 Hours'
Tawde asserted that the trio levied false and unsubstantiated accusations of money distribution against him. Hence, the BJP leader has insisted on an unconditional apology in English, Hindi, and Marathi newspapers, along with social media, within 24 hours from the Congress leaders.
The legal notice stated by Vinod Tawde warned that should Congress leaders neglect to apologize, legal proceedings and civil action seeking damages of 10 crore will be initiated. The controversy emerged the day before elections in Maharashtra.
What's the Full Story?
In fact, just a day before voting in Maharashtra, Bahujan Vikas Aghadi chief Hitendra Thakur alleged that BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde was distributing money at a hotel. At the time of this occurrence, Tawde was at a hotel in Virar, about 60 kilometers from Mumbai. Hundreds of BVA workers had gathered, causing a significant commotion.
Termed Accusations a 'Political Stunt'
Tawde responded to the incident by labeling it as a political stunt. He claimed that Rahul Gandhi and Supriya alleged he distributed 5 crore rupees, although no money was recovered from him. Therefore, he stated that they should now pay him 5 crore rupees.
