After the Paris Olympics 2024, the verdict on Vinesh Phogat's case is still pending. The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) was supposed to announce its decision on Tuesday (August 13), but it has been postponed. The court will now announce its decision on August 16 at 9:30 PM. If the decision favors Vinesh, she will receive the silver medal. If not, it will be a disappointing outcome for her.
The detailed order for this decision has already been issued. Dr. Annabelle Bennett AC SC will be giving the final verdict in this matter. Initially, CAS had set August 10 for the decision date. Usually, an ad-hoc panel is given 24 hours to announce a decision, but this case required a longer timeframe.

Disqualified Before the Gold Medal Match
What exactly led to this situation? During the Paris Olympics, Vinesh played three consecutive matches on August 6, entering the 50 kg freestyle wrestling final and securing a silver medal. Her gold medal match was scheduled for the night of August 7, but on the morning of the same day, Vinesh was disqualified because her weight was 100 grams over the limit.
Following this, Vinesh took her case to CAS. Her initial demand was to be allowed to compete in the gold medal match. However, citing regulations, CAS initially dismissed her request. Subsequently, Vinesh appealed that she should be awarded the silver medal in this event.
Wrestler Vinesh Retires from Wrestling
The final of the 50 kg freestyle wrestling event was held on August 7 at the Paris Olympics. The following day, Vinesh Phogat announced her retirement from wrestling. She shared this news through a social media post.
In her message, Vinesh Phogat said, 'My mother wrestling has defeated me. I am broken, and my strength is gone. Goodbye wrestling 2001-2024.' She apologized, stating that she would always be indebted to everyone.

Vinesh Phogat has clinched 3 gold medals at the Commonwealth Games. She secured these gold medals in the 2014 Glasgow, 2018 Gold Coast, and 2022 Birmingham Games. Additionally, she won a gold medal at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games.
