Unveiling of Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat
Winters in Jammu-Kashmir bring with them numerous obstacles, which is why the new Vande Bharat Express is tailor-made for the Katra-Srinagar railway route. Unveiled on Tuesday, this train is parked at the New Delhi Shakur Basti Coaching Depot and equipped with cutting-edge climate-related features designed to brave the harsh winters.
Inspection of the Railway Route
According to a PTI report, the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express boasts additional amenities not found in the existing 136 Vande Bharat Trains across the nation. The train has been unveiled, and the route is currently undergoing inspection by the Railway Safety Commissioner.
Advanced Heating System in the New Vande Bharat
Executive Director of Information Dissemination at the Railway Board, Dilip Kumar, states that this Vande Bharat train includes an advanced heating system. It prevents the onboard water tanks and bio-toilet tanks from freezing in subzero temperatures and offers a vacuum system that provides warm air, ensuring the air-brake system operates perfectly even in negative temperatures without affecting the train's speed.
No Impact on Visibility
Among other amenities on the Vande Bharat Special train are embedded heating elements in the windshield, which automatically defrost the outlook glass, ensuring the driver's visibility is never compromised even in adverse winter conditions. The Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat includes all features found in other Vande Bharat Trains currently in operation.
From AC Coaches to Automatic Doors
Railway officials mention the train retains its air-conditioned coaches, automatic plug doors, mobile charging sockets, and comfortable seating. As per the Railway statement, it effectively bridges the geographical and economic gap by more effectively linking Kashmir Valley with the national rail network.
