UP Police Constable Exam 2024:
Another FIR has been filed for spreading rumors about a paper leak in the UP Police Constable recruitment exam. The UP Police Recruitment Board registered an FIR at the Husain Ganj police station in Lucknow against those who created a video to spread rumors of a paper leak. Earlier, on Friday, FIRs were lodged against seven individuals who attempted to deceive candidates through Telegram by spreading rumors of a paper leak and extorting money using a QR code. Among those charged is SP leader and former minister Yasar Shah.
Manipulated Timestamp Used to Create Fake Paper Leak Video
In the new case, videos were created to falsify the paper leak of the August 23, 2024, exam. It's being reported that, on the first day of the constable recruitment exam, after both shifts were over, a video claiming a paper leak with an earlier timestamp was made and went viral on social media.
FIR Filed Under These Sections
The UP Police Recruitment Board lodged an FIR at the Husain Ganj police station after investigating the viral video. Charges have been filed under relevant sections of BNS 318(2)/338/336(3)/336(4)/340 (1)/340 (2), along with Section 13 of the Uttar Pradesh Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Ordinance and Sections 66 C and D of the IT Act.

FIR Also Filed Against 7 Individuals for Making False Paper Leak Claims
Earlier, the recruitment board had filed FIRs through Telegram for contacting candidates and falsely claiming to provide question papers in exchange for large sums of money. Those charged include Shoaib Nabi Saifi, Harish Kumar Bhagat, Delight Enterprises, Manu Kumar Srivastava, Kapil Jangid, Siddharth Kumar Gupta, and Yasar Shah, who is an SP leader and a former MLA from the Matera constituency.

SP Leader Could Face Charges Under These Sections
The FIR states, 'Yasar Shah S/o Dr. Wakaar Ahmad Shah, along with several others, are criminally extorting money through various groups, accounts, and bank details like QR codes, attempting to tarnish the image of the UP government. Their actions could provoke unrest among candidates, impacting law and order. This attempt is prima facie an offense punishable under Sections 318(4), 336(3), 338, and 340(2) of the Indian Penal Code-2023 and Section 13 of the Uttar Pradesh Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Ordinance-2024. Those found guilty of paper leak offenses under this ordinance could face life imprisonment and a fine of up to one crore rupees. Both cases are being investigated by the Cyber Cell and STF.
32.45% Candidates Dropped Out on Day One
On the first day of the Uttar Pradesh Police Constable Recruitment Exam, 32.45% of candidates skipped the exam. Approximately 960,000 candidates were expected, out of which 819,600 downloaded their admit cards, but only 648,435 appeared for the exam. After downloading the admit card, around 20-25% of candidates did not take the test. DGP Prashant Kumar suggested that many meritorious students might have acquired jobs elsewhere or diversified into other services. Additionally, the recruitment board had implemented measures to prevent malpractices, possibly contributing to the dropout rate.
61 Suspicious Candidates Detained on Day One
On Friday, 61 suspicious candidates were apprehended during the UP Police Constable recruitment exam. After verifying their documents, they were allowed to sit for the exam. However, the recruitment board will release their written exam results only after document scrutiny. Additionally, four cheats were caught, including three from Maharajganj, Rae Bareli, and Kanpur, using electronic devices or other means to cheat, and one candidate from Kanpur who was arrested for falsifying his age to appear for the exam. Earlier, a female constable and her accomplice were arrested from Gorakhpur for cheating after being caught selling exam papers.
