These days, Uttar Pradesh is grappling with a severe flood crisis. Water levels of the Ganges, Yamuna, and other rivers are rising continuously, affecting 17 districts and 402 villages. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has personally taken charge of monitoring relief efforts. He has dispatched 11 ministers to Ground Zero to oversee flood relief operations. All the ministers have reached the affected districts and are visiting relief camps, embankments, and flooded villages.
17 Districts Under Siege, Thousands Displaced
According to the state government's report, the districts where floods have shown the most impact include Kanpur Nagar, Lakhimpur Kheri, Agra, Auraiya, Chitrakoot, Ballia, Banda, Ghazipur, Mirzapur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Chandauli, Jalaun, Kanpur Dehat, Hamirpur, Etawah, and Fatehpur.
These districts hold 37 tehsils with 402 villages under flood threat. Relief Commissioner Bhanu Chandra Goswami reported that a total of 84,392 people have been affected, with 47,906 already receiving relief assistance, underscoring the severity of the crisis.
Ministers on the Frontline
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has chosen to directly involve his ministers, sending them to the field for continuous monitoring. Several ministers reached their respective marked districts, even staying overnight to ensure uninterrupted inspections the next day.

Aid Delivered to Over 47 Thousand Victims
To date, relief materials have been distributed using 493 boats and motorboats. Additionally, 6,536 food packages and 76,632 lunch packs have been delivered. Moreover, 2,759 cattle caught in the flood have been relocated to safer places. The floods have damaged 343 houses; financial help has been provided in 327 cases, and over 4,015 hectares of agricultural land are underwater.
11 Thousand Sheltered in 905 Refuge Camps
Currently, 11,248 individuals are taking temporary refuge in the 905 flood shelters provided by the state government. These shelters offer essential services like meals, drinking water, electricity, sanitation, and medical care. 757 medical teams have been deployed in the affected areas, conducting regular health check-ups of the evacuees. Also, 129,571 chlorine tablets and 37,089 ORS packets are being distributed to ensure protection against waterborne diseases following the flood.
500 Quintal Fodder and 29 Community Kitchens Serve Both People and Animals
The authorities are catering not just to human needs but also to animal welfare in the affected regions. So far, 500 quintals of fodder have been distributed. To ensure warm and nutritious meals for the victims, 29 community kitchens are running around the clock. Furthermore, 1,193 flood monitoring posts have been established to continuously surveil the area and issue alerts as needed. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized no victim should be left without help, making it clear that any negligence in disaster relief will not be tolerated.
