In a heartbreaking incident late Friday night, a newlywed couple lost their lives in a devastating road accident in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. The mishap took place near the Powerhouse Overbridge in Khursipar police jurisdiction when a speeding truck struck the couple from behind, who were riding a scooter. Following the accident, the truck driver fled the scene with the vehicle.
According to reports, the deceased Mukesh Kurre (28) and his wife Kamleshvari Kurre (26) were residents of Kohka, located within the Vaishali Nagar Assembly constituency. On Friday night, after dining at their aunt's home, they were heading back on their scooter. Tragically, as they approached the Powerhouse Overbridge, an unidentified truck coming from the direction of Raipur hit them from behind, resulting in their immediate death.
The tragic accident left them with no chance to react. Upon receiving the alert, police quickly arrived at the scene, and the bodies were sent to the mortuary of Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Hospital. The shocking news enveloped the family in grief, with relatives arriving at the scene, heartbroken.
Mukesh and Kamleshvari had been married only two months, embarking on a promising new life together. However, their journey was abruptly ended by a negligent truck driver.
Police Statement on the Incident
ASP Sukhnandan Rathore explained that the accident took place on the National Highway, where an unidentified heavy vehicle collided with the scooter-borne couple. The police have registered a case and commenced the search for the truck and driver. Efforts are being made to identify the vehicle using CCTV footage from the area.
