Tragic Plane Accident Occurred on Thursday Afternoon

On Thursday, at precisely 1:39 PM, the shocking crash of an Air India plane riveted global attention. The accident claimed the lives of 265 individuals in a heartbreaking event. The Air India flight burst into flames upon impact, making victim identification nearly impossible. The aircraft crashed just minutes post-takeoff, initially colliding with the mess building of BJ Medical College before hitting Atulyam Hostel, erupting into flames. Debris and smoke engulfed the surroundings, leading to a frantic scene. The plane was carrying 242 people, including 12 crew members and 230 passengers.

Plane Was Carrying 100,000 Liters of Fuel

The plane was loaded with a substantial amount of fuel, transforming it into a flying fireball. It was a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, intended for a direct flight from Ahmedabad to London's Gatwick Airport, covering 6,800 kilometers over 9 hours and 45 minutes. Consequently, the aircraft was fully fueled.

Reports indicate that the aircraft's total fuel capacity is 126,000 liters, requiring approximately 55,000 liters for the journey to London. Aircraft often carry excess fuel, anticipating potential emergencies where they might be required to remain airborne longer than anticipated without clearance for landing.

Black Box Recovered 28 Hours Post-Crash

The black box of the Air India plane was recovered 28 hours after the crash. The data within will be analyzed to ascertain the cause of the accident. Meanwhile, the DGCA has issued strict directives for Indian airline companies to enhance safety inspections, particularly stressing the need for those operating Boeing 787s to take extra precautions. The black box contains a cockpit voice recorder (CVR) and a flight data recorder (FDR). The CVR logs conversations between pilots, co-pilots, crew members, and air traffic controllers, while the FDR records the plane’s speed, altitude, direction, engine behavior, and fuel levels.
