In a heartrending incident from Kanpur, a young man brutally murdered the woman he had once loved and married. The harrowing event unfolded in Kanpur's Panki area. Following the incident, the police reached the scene and have started the hunt for the accused husband.
According to reports, Gunjan Gupta, who resided in Panki, had divorced her first husband and was living in a rented home. Shiva, the young man living on the upper floor of the same house, hailed from Raebareli. Over time, Shiva and Gunjan fell in love and tied the knot.
Conflict had been brewing between the couple
Lately, the couple had been constantly quarreling. Shiva, who hails from Raebareli, used to party with his friends late into the night. Gunjan would oppose his incessant partying. The couple had no children. During a dispute on Tuesday night, Shiva fatally attacked Gunjan with a knife. More than a dozen wounds were found on Gunjan’s body.
Husband flees after locking up the corpse
The husband, after committing the murder, locked the body in a room and fled the scene. When the house's door remained closed the following morning, the landlord informed the Panki police. ACP Panki Tejbahadur Singh stated that both lived in the same house and had married a few years ago. Upon receiving the tip from the landlord, the police opened the door and discovered the wife’s body inside. An investigation is underway, and the search for the fugitive husband continues.
