In a harrowing incident at the Alwar Central Jail, an inmate took his own life by hanging in the bathroom. The event sent shockwaves across the prison administration. Upon receiving the news, the jail staff quickly arrived on the scene and took the inmate down from the noose before rushing him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The police have started an investigation after taking custody of the body and sending it for a post-mortem examination.
'Dad, get me out of jail,' the inmate had told his father during a phone call. The grieving father has since accused someone of murder, questioning how someone could hang themselves from a 5-foot high water tap in a bathroom. It was revealed that the deceased, 21-year-old Dhirendra, had been incarcerated since January 10, 2024, under the POCSO Act.
Inmate Found Hanging in Jail Bathroom
On April 24, his body was discovered hanging from a tap in the jail bathroom. Another inmate cleaning the bathroom provided the first report to the prison authorities. Jail staff promptly transported Dhirendra to the hospital, where doctors declared him deceased.
Before his death, Dhirendra had urgently pleaded with his father over a standard payphone call from jail, requesting that his father arrange for his bail quickly. A few hours later, his father was informed that his son had committed suicide in jail.
Father Accuses Foul Play in Son's Death
The deceased's father has accused the village headman of conspiracy. He claimed that his son was framed and that the headman had publicly stated he was responsible for sending the son to jail. Following the distraught father's complaint, the police have registered a case and begun their investigation. The post-mortem of the deceased was conducted in the presence of a magistrate through a medical board, and subsequently, the body was handed over to the family.
