In Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, a distressing event unfolded as six-year-old Mayank, who fell into a borewell two days ago, sadly did not survive. An official reported on Sunday that despite relentless efforts by multiple agencies, they were unable to save the trapped child.

A news report indicated that the accident occurred on Friday afternoon when the child fell into an uncovered borewell at around 3 PM while playing near the site. Initially, it was stated that he was stuck approximately 40 feet deep.

The borewell into which the child had fallen was located on a farm owned by Hiraman Mishra, where wheat was being harvested. The borewell was originally drilled for water extraction but was left uncovered due to being dry.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and local administration teams were engaged in a rescue mission to extricate the child from the borewell. The rescuers supplied oxygen into the 70-foot-deep borewell and dug parallel pits in an attempt to reach him.

Collector Pratibha Pal reported that after a 40-hour-long rescue operation, the child was located on Sunday, but he was unresponsive. At the scene, Pal stated, "We found the child around 8 am, all efforts were made, but due to the narrowness of the borewell, we could not save the child." The body was sent to hospital for postmortem.
