A 17-year-old boy implicated in a Pune accident has claimed that his family's driver was behind the wheel at the time of the crash. This assertion is supported by two friends who were with him during the incident. It is pertinent to mention that the minor, son of real estate developer Vishal Aggarwal, was in the car that collided with a motorcycle, resulting in two fatalities. Just a day earlier, a Pune court had revoked his bail and directed him to be sent to a juvenile center.
A new twist in the case
Investigators revisited the family driver's account on Thursday, who had originally claimed to have been driving the Porsche during the accident. Similarly, Vishal Aggarwal stands by his claim that it was his appointed driver at the wheel.
Minor's grandfather also interrogated
As the luxury car is registered under a realty firm owned by the Aggarwal family, the minor's grandfather, one of the firm's proprietors, was questioned about its ownership. Efforts were made to verify the sequence of events on the night of the incident through a friend of the minor who was present.
Police gathering CCTV footage along the route
In pursuit of evidence, police are collecting CCTV footage from the entire journey of the car, starting from their residence to Kosey Restaurant, then to the Black Club, and finally to the crash site, to establish who was driving at the time.
Recovery of Vishal Aggarwal's mobile phone
The police have recovered Vishal Aggarwal's mobile phone and are striving to piece together the events leading up to the accident. The Pune Crime Branch is also questioning the minor's grandfather, Surendra Aggarwal, to learn more about their conversation on the day of the accident and delve deeper into the investigation.
Forensic team examines the car
A police officer disclosed that the car had been subjected to a forensic examination. This is in addition to the scene of the accident having been already scrutinized for evidence.
