In a significant drug racket case, two Tanzanian nationals were arrested from Punjab. They are accused of being key operators in an interstate drug trafficking network. The accused have been identified as David Ntem (22) and Atka Haruna (21), both students at a Punjab university. This information was shared by a police official with a news agency.

Officials revealed that their arrest followed crucial information provided by two individuals previously detained by the Kunnamangalam police. This case first came to light with the arrest of Ibrahim Musamil (27) from Kasargod's Manjeshwaram and Abhinav (24) from Kozhikode's Velliparamba on January 21. During interrogation, they were taken to Bengaluru on February 4 to gather evidence. The lodge where the accused stayed was searched, and information about their associates was collected.

The police further investigation led them to the co-accused. On February 12, the third accused, Mohammad Shamil, was tracked down in Mysore and detained near a hotel by Vrindavan Garden. Financial investigation revealed a large sum transferred to David Ntem’s bank account. Investigators found that this money was withdrawn from Atka Haruna’s account in Noida.

Following this lead, authorities pinpointed the suspects in Phagwara, Punjab, where they were living as paying guests near their college. A special investigation team then arrested them from their rented accommodation. The suspects are to be presented in court on Friday.

A detailed investigation will follow their police custody. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Kozhikode City Police Deputy Commissioner Arun K. Pavithran, led by Medical College Assistant Police Commissioner Umesh A.
