Tamil Nadu: Dalit Child Beaten for Defecating in Field; Case Filed Against Accused

The child alleges that around 5 PM when he went to the toilet, Rajasekaran saw him and started yelling. He used caste-based slurs and started beating him. Not only that, Rajasekaran asked him to manually remove the waste from the toilet.

In Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu, a shocking incident of a Dalit minor being mistreated has come to light. The boy is 14 years old, and the perpetrator is a 46-year-old upper-caste man.

This incident reportedly took place on Wednesday. The accused, K. Rajasekaran, caught the minor defecating in his field. Furious, Rajasekaran grabbed the boy and forced him to remove the waste with his hands and throw it out of the field. The child stated, 'It was around 5 PM when I went there to defecate. Rajasekaran saw me and started yelling. He used caste-based slurs and began beating me. Not only that, Rajasekaran asked me to manually remove the waste.'

A local named Veerabhadran heard the crying child and ran to the scene to help. Veerabhadran said, 'I heard the child crying, so I went to check. I tried to stop Rajasekaran from hitting the boy, but he wouldn't listen. He kept screaming caste-based slurs and continued beating the boy. I rushed to inform the family, but by the time they arrived, Rajasekaran had already forced the boy to clean the waste.'

The child's father, Krishnamoorthy, was shocked upon hearing about the incident and immediately reported it to the Pennagaram police station. The police have registered a case against Rajasekaran under the SC/ST Act. He has also been charged under sections for forcing a minor to clean the toilet and for mistreating the boy.

Charges under IPC section 323 have been filed against Rajasekaran for intentionally causing harm to the child. Additional charges under SC/ST Act section 3(j) have been filed for forcing a Dalit boy to manually clean the waste. Krishnamoorthy said, 'We want the government to take stringent action in this case and ensure such heinous acts against any caste are stopped.'
