Indian T20 team captain Suryakumar Yadav has acknowledged his struggle to achieve the right balance between T20 and ODI cricket, which resulted in his exclusion from the ODI team. However, he is eager to make a comeback in the ODI format and has sought assistance from AB de Villiers.
In an interview, Suryakumar mentioned that he has never had an in-depth conversation with De Villiers. Still, if given the chance, he is keen to understand how de Villiers managed to balance both T20 and ODI formats. 'If I meet him (AB) soon, I would love to ask how he balanced both formats because I couldn't. I thought I should play ODIs like T20s. But now I realize both formats are distinct. AB, if you're listening, please reach out soon, as the next three to four years are crucial for me. I want to play ODI cricket. Please help me!'

It's worth noting that Suryakumar made his ODI debut in 2021 and last played in the 2023 World Cup final (India vs Australia). Since then, he has only been part of the T20 format. His performance in ODIs has been quite disappointing, as he's often returned without scoring. Suryakumar acknowledged that AB de Villiers succeeded in all three formats, and his experience could help Yadav find success in ODIs too.
