On Thursday morning, a massive fire broke out in a makeshift shed illegally constructed atop a three-story residential building in the Simada Naka area of Surat. The shed was reportedly used as a chemical warehouse. As soon as the news of the fire spread, Surat Municipal Corporation's fire brigade team rushed to the scene to combat the blaze.
After hours of strenuous effort, firefighters managed to extinguish the fire. Five individuals working at the site sustained burns and have been admitted to the SMIMER hospital. A body was also recovered from the location, confirmed by Vasant Parikh, the Chief Fire Officer of Surat Municipal Corporation.
The fire broke out in the illicit shed on top of a three-story residential building in the Simada Naka area. Drums of chemicals were stored in the illicit shed, used for adhering diamonds onto saris. The fire incident left five people injured, who were transported to the hospital. Additionally, a body was recovered from the site.
