The Supreme Court has declined to hear the case related to the alleged honeytrap scandal in Karnataka. A petition requesting an SIT investigation was dismissed by the court. The Supreme Court questioned the petitioner, residing in Jharkhand, about his concern over Karnataka's affairs. Why should we entertain such political nonsense?
What Did the Petition Demand?
K.N. Rajanna, a senior Congress minister, accused some party members of entrapping ministers, senior leaders, and judges, including 48 individuals, in a honeytrap. The petitioner from Jharkhand, Binay Kumar Singh, expressed concern over reports of judges being targeted.
The petition argued that this poses a threat to the independence and credibility of the judiciary. It urged the Supreme Court to conduct an investigation under its supervision. The lawyer highlighted the allegations involving politicians, bureaucrats, and judges in honeytraps.
'The Court Has Many Responsibilities'
The court questioned why those involved fell into the honeytrap. If someone creates a honeytrap and you fall for it, you are inviting trouble yourself. The Supreme Court firmly stated that the Karnataka honeytrap controversy doesn't concern them as they have more pressing issues to handle.
