Political tensions have escalated over the encounter killing of dacoit Mangesh Yadav in Sultanpur. SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav has raised questions about the police and administration's actions, claiming that Mangesh was targeted based on his 'caste'. Following Akhilesh's statement, a delegation from the Samajwadi Party led by Lal Bihari Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council, has visited Mangesh's home to offer condolences to his family.

It is noteworthy that Mangesh Yadav, wanted in connection with a daylight robbery worth crores at a jeweler's shop in Sultanpur, was killed in an encounter by the STF on Thursday morning (August 5). SP Chief had questioned this encounter.

wrote on 'X' - It seems that those involved in the Sultanpur robbery had deep connections with the ruling party. Before the fake encounter, contact was made with the 'main accused' to surrender, and only cosmetic gunshots were fired at other accomplices. The life was taken based on 'caste'.
The Crime Records of Mangesh Yadav
Mangesh Yadav, who was killed in the encounter, was a wanted criminal with a bounty of one lakh rupees on him. He had numerous cases registered against him in Jaunpur, Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, and other districts for serious crimes such as theft, robbery, and dacoity. In 2022, a case under the Gangster Act was registered against him at Karodikala police station in Sultanpur.

Additionally, Mangesh faced charges for stealing items from robberies and even robbing his fellow accomplices of the loot. He had instilled fear in his locality.
On August 28, a daylight robbery worth crores took place at Bharat Ji Jeweler's shop in Thatheri Bazaar, Chowk area of Sultanpur city. The culprits accomplished the heist within minutes and fled the scene. Subsequently, on Thursday morning, Mangesh Yadav, who had a bounty of one lakh rupees and was absconding, was killed in an encounter by the STF at Hanumanganj bypass in rural Kotwali.
