Sultanpur: Ramchet Cobbler Succumbs to Illness, Rahul Gandhi Assures Support

In Sultanpur, UP, Ramchet the cobbler sadly passed away after battling severe cancer and tuberculosis. Rahul Gandhi fondly spoke of Ramchet during the Bihar Assembly elections recently. Back in 2024, the Congress leader visited Ramchet at his shop in Sultanpur, spending significant time there before inviting him to his residence in Delhi.

Immediately after learning of Ramchet's passing, Rahul Gandhi contacted the family in the early morning to express his condolences. He also dispatched a congressional delegation from Amethi and Sultanpur to provide comprehensive support to the family.

It should be noted that Ramchet the cobbler, a resident of Dhaserua village under Kurebhar police station in Sultanpur, passed due to prolonged illness from cancer and TB this morning. Ramchet came into the limelight last year during a legal deliberation when Rahul Gandhi's convoy unexpectedly stopped at his kiosk in Sultanpur.

Rahul Gandhi engaged with Ramchet about his business, learning shoemaking skills, and subsequently helped expand Ramchet's business by sending a modern sewing machine and raw materials. Later, Rahul invited Ramchet to Delhi to meet his mother, Sonia Gandhi, and sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

Upon being informed of his illness, Rahul Gandhi initiated Ramchet's treatment at Prayagraj's cancer hospital. After learning about Ramchet's passing, Rahul Gandhi promptly contacted his son, Raghavram, expressing condolences and promising full support. Following Rahul's direction, dozens of Congress members, including district presidents from Amethi and Sultanpur, visited Ramchet's home, providing financial assistance to the family.
