In the Loonkaransar Tehsil of Bikaner, Rajasthan, a 1.5-acre tract of land recently collapsed 100 feet into the ground. The sight resembles a geological marvel from another land, making it a hotspot for selfies and viral videos. To prevent mishaps, the police have enforced Section 144 in the vicinity.
Post-incident, the Bikaner administration, along with geological experts, are investigating. District Collector Namrata Vrisni mentioned that the site might once have been a pond or well, which could be the reason for the collapse. The road nearby has also succumbed to the sinkhole, turning the area into a social media sensation.
Administration Intervenes with Section 144
With the crowd increasing to see the sinkhole, authorities stepped in to prevent any unfortunate incidents by imposing Section 144 and assigning police duty around the site to ensure safety and prevent any major accidents.
The Sinkhole Named 'Lightning Pit'
Local lore suggests that lightning once struck the site, after which it became known as 'Lightning Pit'. Now, geologists are thoroughly examining the sudden collapse of this extensive piece of land.
Residents Appeal to Administration
Locals have implored the administration to regularly monitor the ground with the help of geoscientists. They urge relocation of the public to safer areas where water levels are diminishing to thwart any future catastrophes or significant loss of life.
