Gangster Anandpal Singh was born in Sanvraad village, Ladnun tehsil of Nagaur district, Rajasthan. He was brilliant in his studies from an early age. His father dreamed that he would become a teacher. Therefore, after graduation, Anandpal pursued a B.Ed. However, during this period, his interest turned to politics. In 2000, district panchayat elections were happening in Rajasthan. Anandpal contested the panchayat elections and won, but he lost the election for the panchayat committee president by a narrow margin.
This is How Anandpal Entered the World of Crime
The son of Congress leader Harji Ram Burdak, Jagannath Burdak, defeated Anandpal by just two votes. This loss deeply angered him, filling his mind with revenge. The fire of revenge pushed him into the world of crime. In 2006, he brutally shot and killed a man named Jeevan Ram Godara in Didwana. This murder made him infamous across Rajasthan. He gradually ventured into the illegal liquor business and quickly became a significant smuggler.
Leading a Gang of Over 100 Criminals
Anandpal Singh had over 24 cases registered against him, including robbery, dacoity, gang warfare, murder, and attempted murder. In eight of these cases, he was declared a fugitive by the court. He was also responsible for the murder of Gopal Phogat in Sikar. In 2011, he conducted a public shooting at Bhojlai Chowk in Sujangarh, injuring three people. His gang had over 100 members ready to act on his command. Several politicians and officials in Rajasthan felt threatened by him.
A Rs. 5 Lakh Bounty on His Head
Anandpal's gang brutally murdered a man named Nanuram and burned his body with acid. After this murder, he went into hiding. Six years later, in 2012, the police arrested him. However, in 2015, during a court appearance in Didwana, he escaped from the police’s grasp. The police placed a Rs. 5 lakh bounty on his head and seized over Rs. 150 crore of his unofficial properties under pressure from the authorities.

A Fortress Like a Villain's Lair
During a raid, the police discovered Anandpal Singh’s fortress, resembling a villain’s lair from a movie. He turned an isolated farmhouse into a fortress, complete with bunkers for battling enemies. Holes in the walls allowed for shooting outward. The officers were shocked as they entered the fortress spanning over 9 acres of land, finding a dungeon within another dungeon, which housed an iron cage.
Torturing People in Iron Cages
Anandpal Singh likely used these cages to torture his enemies. He was known for illegally capturing lands and forcibly buying properties. Those who resisted were tortured in this fortress. During his fugitive period, he stayed there with his lover, Lady Don Anuradha Choudhary. It’s reported that this farmhouse was registered under the name of a Dalit woman named Sita Devi, who denied any knowledge about it during police interrogation.
The Police Encounter That Ended It All
In 2017, under immense pressure, the police killed Anandpal Singh during an encounter in Salasar, Rajasthan. Anandpal and his two accomplices fired around 100 rounds at the police from an AK-47. In retaliation, Anandpal was hit by six bullets. Two police officers were also injured. The SOG had captured Anandpal’s brothers Devendra alias Guttu and Vicky from Sirsa, Haryana. Their interrogation revealed Anandpal’s location in Salasar.

The love story of Anandpal Singh and Lady Don Anuradha Choudhary also remained in the spotlight.
