Sensex crosses the 75,000 mark for the first time

The onset of Chaitra Navratri has been marked by a historic achievement in the Stock Market. On Tuesday, as the markets opened, the Bombay Stock Exchange's (BSE) Sensex soared, surpassing the 75,000 mark for the first time. Along with the Sensex, the National Stock Exchange's (NSE) Nifty Index also shot up at a rocket-like pace, reaching a new zenith of 22,700.

As Markets Opened, Sensex Created a Frenzy

Amidst positive cues from global markets, the Stock Market opened with substantial vigor on Tuesday. BSE's Sensex opened at 75,124.28 for the first time ever, marking an all-time high, after closing at 74,742.50 the previous trading day. NSE's Nifty, following the trajectory of the Sensex, started trading at a new high of 22,765.10, compared to its last close at 22,666.30.

1662 Stocks Open in Green

With the start of trading in the stock market, 1,662 stocks saw a rise, while 584 stocks opened in the red. Meanwhile, 97 stocks did not show any change. As for the Sensex, it has maintained its initial momentum and, after 15 minutes of trading, it slightly dipped from its all-time high to trade at 75,024.35, up by 281.85 points or 0.38%.

Shares from Infosys to Tata Surge

In early trading on the BSE, Godrej Properties' share traded at 2,739.40, up by 5.85% or 151 rupees. Infosys' share also saw a jump of 2.09%, trading at 1508 rupees. Other shares in the green included Tata Steel (1.21%), HCL Technologies (1.05%), Exide Industries (2.31%), and Tata group's Voltas trading at an increase of 1.91%.
