In the upcoming by-elections for nine assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, talks are ongoing between Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leaders regarding an alliance. It is suggested that Akhilesh Yadav is open to granting the Aligarh Khaire and Ghaziabad seats to Congress, yet Congress is not completely satisfied with this arrangement. They are also claiming the Phulpur seat from Prayagraj, but SP had already granted a ticket to Murtaza Siddiqui. Before Akhilesh could communicate any signal of leaving the Phulpur seat for Congress, the SP candidate rushed and filed a nomination.
As soon as the speculations about Congress acquiring the Phulpur seat emerged, Samajwadi Party candidate Murtaza Siddiqui promptly submitted his nomination. When questioned about this regarding Phulpur, SP observer Indrajeet Saroj stated that their candidate had completed the nomination process.

National Secretary of the Samajwadi Party and former cabinet minister Indrajeet Saroj assured that their candidate had filed for the Phulpur by-election. He expressed ignorance regarding any seat allocation for Congress. When confronted with circulating news, he remarked that media conjectures might be baseless.
