Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has voiced serious concerns over the military blockade imposed by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in Gaza and the worsening conditions there. She highlighted how this blockade has made life more precarious for the people, who are caught in a struggle between life and death.

In her article for a renowned newspaper, Gandhi termed this blockade a heinous crime against humanity and urged the international community for immediate intervention.

In her op-ed, the Rajya Sabha MP emphasized that the IDF has not only escalated military operations but also intentionally disrupted essential supplies like medicine, food, and fuel. This ruthless strategy has left the residents of Gaza on the brink of hunger, illness, and sheer desolation.

'Destruction of Infrastructure'

Gandhi detailed in her piece, 'The blockade has indiscriminately obliterated Gaza's infrastructure, leading to the unfettered massacre of civilians, turning this into a man-made tragedy.'

'Life or Death Struggle'

This blockade is not only depriving the residents of Gaza of basic amenities but also stripping them of their right to survival. The shortage of medicines in hospitals, lack of food, and fuel crisis have forced millions into a dire life-or-death struggle. She termed this as a strategy to starve them into submission, which she condemned as a crime against humanity.

She also questioned India's role amidst the Israel-Hamas conflict. Targeting Prime Minister Modi, Sonia Gandhi wrote that PM Modi's shameful silence over the atrocities inflicted on Gaza's residents by Israel is disappointing. It's time to raise a voice in clear and strong terms for the legacy India has always represented.
