Skoda has announced the prices of all variants of their most affordable compact SUV, the Skoda Kylaq. The entry-level base variant starts at ₹7.89 lakh, while the top-spec Prestige automatic variant is priced at ₹14.40 lakh (ex-showroom). Along with the pricing announcements, the official booking is now open. Let's delve into what features each variant offers:
Looks and Design:
This new compact SUV by Skoda is essentially based on the (MQB A0-IN) platform, the backbone shared with both Skoda and Volkswagen. The Kushaq and Slavia are also built on this platform. It features split headlamps, squared-off tail lights, and a butterfly front grille. Positioned lower are the LED projector headlamps. Although the front grille is slightly thinner compared to the Kushaq, it greatly enhances the front appearance. Clear creases on the hood and an aluminum spoiler below add a contrasting look.
SUV Size:
As for the size, the Skoda Kylaq measures 3,995 mm in length, and its wheelbase is 2,566 mm, making it the runner-up in this segment after the Mahindra XUV 3XO. It sports 17-inch alloy wheels and offers a ground clearance of 189 mm. However, in terms of ground clearance, it falls slightly behind the Tata Nexon, which provides 208 mm.
Engine and Performance:
The Skoda Kylaq is launched with just one petrol engine option in the market. A potent 1.0-liter TSI turbo-petrol engine powers it, generating 115 PS of power and 178 Nm of torque. It's connected to both a 6-speed manual and a torque converter automatic transmission, and it promises efficient mileage.
The company presents this SUV in a total of four variants: Classic, Signature, Signature Plus, and Prestige.
